A report of an assault is prompting an appeal for more witnesses near a school on the Isle of Wight.
Police are investigating after it’s alleged a 24-year-old man was assaulted by another man in Collingwood Road in Newport near Nine Acres school shortly before 3pm on Tuesday, June 26, 2012.
The victim, from Newport, Isle of Wight, received scratches and bruising to his neck, chest and arms.
Newport man arrested
A 49-year-old man from Newport, Isle of Wight was arrested on suspicion of assault by beating. He was questioned and bailed until July 11, 2012 pending further enquiries.
Investigating officer PC Mark Thomas said: “This assault was reported near Nine Acres school just before 3pm when there would have been many people around collecting their children from the school at that time.”
