71 year old man assaulted by teenager

This in from the police, in their own words. Ed

We are appealing for witnesses after a man was assaulted near the astro-turf at Fairway Sports Complex in Sandown at around 5.30pm on Sunday, October 25.

A 71-year-old man was assaulted by a boy aged between 15 and 16-years-old. The man has suffered serious facial injuries as a result.

The boy has been described as white, about 5ft 10inches tall with dark hair wearing light clothing.

We understand that two teenage boys and a teenage girl wearing a white coat and glasses were with the boy just prior to the incident, however they were not involved in the assault.

Detective Constable Katy Lee from the Isle of Wight Investigations Team said:

“We are appealing to anyone who was at the Sports Complex at this time who may have seen this incident. We think the teenagers may have been in the area before and after the incident happened.

“Did you see them or know of anyone matching this description? We would like to hear from you.”
