Police can confirm the formal identification of a body found in woodland near Werrar Farm, Northwood, Cowes, Isle of Wight on Saturday, July 18, 2009.

Jason Michael Fitzpatrick, aged 40, of Atherley Road, Shanklin, Isle of Wight was formally identified yesterday (Thursday, July 23, 2009) through dental records.

Next-of-kin have been informed. Mr Fitzpatrick had been reported missing since May 17, 2009.

The death is not being treated as suspicious.

Police are preparing a file for the Isle of Wight Coroner.

Police are appealing for information about the whereabouts of a vulnerable missing man on the Isle of Wight.

Officers are concerned for the welfare of Jason Michael Fitzpatrick, 40, who was reported missing from the Shanklin area of the Island on Sunday, 17 May by a family member who had not spoken to him for three days.

Enquiries at this time have indicated Mr Fitzpatrick has not been seen by friends or family since 14 May.

He was wearing a blue jacket with white stripes down the arms and blue jeans.

Police believe Mr Fitzpatrick remains on the Island after a potential sighting near Shanklin Police station on 17 May at 2pm
