Police appeal for witnesses after assault in Newport

Police lampPolice are appealing for witnesses following an assault in Newport. The incident occurred between 7.30 and 8pm on Friday July 27 in Nelson Road.

Police were called by paramedics who were treating the victim, a 40-year-old man from Newport, for injuries to his jaw.

The victim received further treatment at the Queen Alexandra Hospital in Cosham.

Detective Constable Jessica Fleming from Newport police station said: “The assault is thought to have followed a heated dispute in the street between the two men and I would like to hear from anyone who saw or heard the incident.”
