Police appeal for witnesses following handbag theft in Church Litten

We’re appealing for witnesses as part of a robbery investigation in Newport.

Police were called at 5.40pm on Thursday 21st September with reports that a woman in her 30s had her handbag, containing cash, snatched from her in the rose garden in Church Litten.

Man arrested
A 40-year-old man was subsequently arrested on suspicion of robbery, and has been bailed with conditions until 19th December while enquiries continue.

We believe there were a number of other members of the public in the area at the time of this incident who will have potentially seen what happened.
