Appeal for witnesses following robbery in Sandown (Updated)

Police are appealing for witnesses after a man was assaulted and robbed near to the junction of St Johns Crescent at Avenue Road and Fort Mews in Sandown on Friday (August 24) afternoon.

The victim, a 42-year-old man, suffered cuts and grazes after he was pushed to the floor and had his rucksack forcibly removed from his back before the suspect ran off with it.

The rucksack contained:
1 x Black Sony Xperia Tipo Mobile phone
1 x Black iPad 16gb
1 x Black iPod touch 32gb
1 x Black ‘Animal’ leather wallet containing cash as well as debit cards and a driving licence.
1 x Grey ‘Everlast’ hoody which has a zip half way the way up the front

Description of suspect
The suspect is described a white man, aged about 21 years. 5’10 – 5’11” in height, fat, shortish brown hair, side burns and stubble. He was wearing a short sleeved light blue t-shirt and shorts.

There was also a second man present during the incident. He was described as a white man, about 5’6” tall.
