Police are appealing for information after a motor vehicle was stolen and set fire to during the Christmas period.

The car, a blue Ford Fiesta, was taken sometime between Christmas night and the early hours of Boxing Day morning from St Paul’s Avenue, Shanklin. It was later spotted at 7.00am in Rosemary Lane, Ryde where it had been dumped and set on fire.

One of the men seen setting light to the abandoned vehicle is described as thin build and wearing a light coloured top.

An investigating officer said: “The ground in the lane was very wet and there is a good chance the suspects would have arrived home with extremely muddy footwear.”
