Police are appealing for information after a number of vehicles were set on fire in Newport.

The incidents occurred between 2am and 3.30am on Saturday, 27 July. Police and Hampshire Fire & Rescue Service attended the scenes and initial enquiries indicate that it was a deliberate act.

Two vehicles were set alight whilst parked in Drill Hall Road car park in Newport, subsequent damage was also caused to vehicles parked nearby.

A further two vehicles were set alight in nearby Alexandra Lane and a motorbike parked in nearby Lugley Street had its fuel and coolant lines stolen, which is also believed to be linked.

Many of the vehicles involved were owned by holiday makers who had clothing and possessions in the vehicles at the time.
