Police have confirmed that the investigation into an offensive Facebook page that was set up following the tragic death of 14-year-old Kiri-Jade Hodgkinson is still ongoing.
They say officers have made extensive enquiries and are currently working with Facebook to establish more information about the page.
A spokesperson from the police said,
“We urge the public to show respect and compassion during a time of great sadness for the family.
“Please do not spread or encourage any gossip or rumours about what has happened, as this makes it more difficult for detectives to find out all the facts as quickly as possible.
They go on to say,
“If you have any information that can assist with our enquiries, please contact us directly. If you come across any similar sites, please also let us know and avoid commenting on them.”
