Police need public’s help identifying body of kayaker found on Isle of Wight

Police continue to try to identify the body of a kayaker, who was found on Yaverland Beach, Sandown, on Friday, September 11.

Police were called at 7.20pm after the man was found in the kayak.

Last seen in Brighton
The man was last seen at Brighton Canoes, in Newhaven, Sussex, at around 4pm on September 8. He is believed to have had an Irish accent.

The man is described as:

White
Approximately mid 20s – mid 30s
Blue Eyes
Dark hair
Nice teeth

He was described as ‘well built’ and was wearing beige shorts and a blue zip-up jacket. The kayak was a yellow and black ‘blow up’ Sevylor Conrad

Unexplained death
The death is currently being treated as unexplained and inquiries are ongoing to try to establish the circumstances.
