Police Officers March To Parliament In Protest of Cuts

Police officers from the Isle of Wight and Hampshire will be taking part in a march to Parliament today.

Enough is enough poster:Protesting at the 20% cut in Police budgets, the officers will march past the Home Office, Houses of Parliament, Treasury, Whitehall and the National Police Memorial.

Campaign website, Protect Our Police, says,

Her Majesty’s Inspectorate of Constabulary promoted 12% cuts as a manageable figure which would not harm the front line. Astonishingly this was ignored by Government, the Home Secretary Theresa May and the Policing Minister Nick Herbert.

In fact, we know now that we cannot trust our Home Secretary to remain the custodian of British Policing. She pledged her promises at the Federation Conference and has acted in an arrogant and dismissive way not standing by her promises. She has displayed utter contempt for Police Officers and lied to their faces. We ask where is her honesty and integrity?

British Policing now faces colossal change as a direct result of her decisions, some 20% Cuts with the loss of 16,000 Police Officers from our streets many of which are from the front line.

This is not just unacceptable but an utter disgrace that our Parliament has let this situation occur with little or no Public Consultation whatsoever.
