Pen to paper:A consultation on plans to expand and relocate special and additional educational needs services on the Isle of Wight starts on Friday (11 May).

The Isle of Wight Council is seeking feedback on plans to relocate services currently delivered at Clatterford and Thompson House tuition centres to a single site at Berry Hill, Lake (former Broadlea Primary School site).

It is also proposing to create a new centre at Love Lane, Cowes for children and young people of primary and secondary school age with behaviour, social and emotional difficulties.

Additionally, the council is asking for views on whether support services – such as Early Years, mental health team and behaviour support service should be located within the new centres.

Public meetings
Two meetings have been arranged to provide residents with an opportunity to learn more about the plans and ask questions.

15 May 2012 – 6.30pm, Broadlea Primary School, Berry Hill, Lake, Sandown, PO36 9LH.
16 May 2012 – 7.30pm, Lanesend Primary School, Love Lane, Cowes, PO31 7ET.
(Please note new start time – this event was previously advertised to start at 6.30pm)

A meeting specifically for the parents of children currently attending Clatterford and Thompson House tuition centres will also be held in May. Parents are being written to with meeting details.

A short survey has been compiled to gather views on the proposals. It can be completed online from Friday at the council’s website

Paper copies of the survey are available on request by calling the schools and learning business support team on (01983) 814680.
