Police update – Missing Ryde man came home safe and well late last night.

Police are this morning (Sunday) making an urgent appeal to the public in Hampshire to help them find a man who has been missing from his home at Ryde since Friday night (September 13).

Brian Proctor:Brian Proctor, 51, has not been seen since 10pm on Friday when he left his home in Sutton Close, Ryde. He was reported missing by his wife on Saturday morning when he failed to return.

Police growing increasingly concerned
A media appeal was made yesterday but the police officer leading the search for Mr Proctor says he is growing increasingly concerned for his safety and urge the public to help find him.

Detective Inspector John Geden said,

“We are genuinely concerned that Brian may wish to harm himself and we are doing everything we can to find him and ensure he is safe.

“We have studied CCTV from the ferry ports and we can say that he was last seen on camera leaving on the Fishbourne to Portsmouth car ferry at 1.40am Saturday morning, so we believe he is on the mainland.

“He has money enough to last him a couple of days, and we are today looking at CCTV sources to identify his path of travel. We are also checking hotels and bed and breakfasts in the Portsmouth area.

“Hotel and B&B owners in Portsmouth and surrounding areas – please check your guestlists and if you have a lone man in his 50s who checked in and recognise his picture, please call us immediately.

“Our message to the public is please take a good look at his photo, and if you think you see him or know where he is call us straight away.

“Our message to Brian if he is reading this or hears our appeal is please make contact. Your wife is beside herself with worry. We just want to make sure you are safe. Please call us on 101 and we will do everything we can to help you.”

Mr Proctor has left his car and phone at home.

He is described as:

6ft 1ins tall
Balding with short grey hair at the sides
Wearing a black t-shirt with white writing on it
Blue jeans and black shoes
He has large distinctive ears

Police teams are continuing to search today working with British Transport Police.

Anyone who sees Mr Proctor or knows of their whereabouts should call Hampshire police on 101 as soon as possible.
