In May the owner of the Ocean Hotel on Sandown’s seafront, Phoenix Commercial Property Development (PCPD), was issued with Community Protection Notice Warning by Police.
Sgt Sharland from South Wight Neighbourhood Policing Team has confirmed today (Monday) that the actions required to be completed by 10th June have not, and so a Community Protection Notice has now been issued.
Action that must be taken
Failure to comply with this Notice is a criminal offence. The following actions must be completed by 11th July 2022.
- Erect a secure perimeter fence around the entire site and regularly inspect and maintain this fence.
- Install CCTV which covers access and egress points with accompanying signage
- Board every access point, including all broken windows and doors; on every level of the building to prevent trespass.
Supporting the Section 215 Notice
Sgt Sharland adds,
“We continue to engage with and support the Local Authority with their Section 215 action.”
The owner of the Ocean Hotel recently appealed the council’s official notice to clean up the building, which the council say significantly harms Sandown.
No-one from PCPD was present at the hearing and the final hearing is due to take place on 3rd August.
