Police are appealing for help after a burglary at an address in Victoria Road, Sandown sometime between Tuesday, January 21 and Sunday, January 26.

The following items are missing from the address:

  • A brown metal cash tin with ‘Dad’ printed on it containing £300-£500 in pound coins
  • A heavy gold 10in bracelet in a green presentation box
  • A gold sovereign ring
  • A plain gold wedding band

Det Con Katy Lee said:

“The occupant of the property, a 60-year-old man, is the grandfather of 14-year-old Kiri Jade Hodgkinson who died very recently in a road traffic collision on the Isle of Wight. It is believed that this burglary may have happened on the day of Kiri’s funeral (Friday, January 24) as people had access to the address to use facilities and offer condolences.

“The cash tin in particular is fairly distinctive and would have been quite heavy. If anyone is aware of someone recently coming into possession of items matching this description please contact us.”

Anyone with information should contact DC Lee at Newport police station on 101. Alternatively call Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
