Police warn motorists to lock their vehicles and remove valuables

Police on the Isle of Wight are reminding the public to lock their vehicles and remove all valuables, even if parked on a driveway or being left for a few minutes.

Car broekn into:The warnings come after a recent spate of thefts where cash, a wallet and even loose change were taken from different vehicles in the Sandown area.

The incidents occurred overnight in Perowne Way, Sandown between Sunday, April 7 and Monday, April 8, 2013.

In a separate incident a number of coaches parked in Fort Street overnight on the evening of Friday, April 5, were entered and food and fizzy drinks taken. Don’t be tempted to leave anything of value on the coach, take it with you or ask the driver if there is a secure locker to store it in.

Officers investigating the cases are appealing for anyone who may have witnessed anything suspicious or who may have information relating to the crimes to contact PC Clayton at Newport CID by phoning 101. Information can be given anonymously by phoning the independent Crimestoppers charity on 0800 555 111.
