Positive action results in clean start for former bus station

The positive action of several independent shopkeepers on Ventnor’s Pier Street has resulted in the removal of fly tipped rubbish.

As reported earlier in the week, several businesses clubbed together to pay for the fly tipped rubbish to be removed.

An ongoing problem
Fly tipping has been a problem at the site of the derelict former bus station for many years, but had intensified in recent months.

Each time something was dumped there, it encouraged more rubbish to be left. Now the rubbish has gone and all the mess underneath has been swept up and it’s less of an eyesore.

You’re on camera
For those thinking about dumping more rubbish there, beware of the new CCTV cameras in operation.

Shopkeepers also ask those in the town to keep an eye out for fly tippers attempting to dump their rubbish at the site in the future.

New sign at the Bus Station

Well done to all those who put their hands in their pockets to have this mess tidied up.
