Thanks to Jake Elsley for this report and photos from last weekend’s Postfest. We popped along on Saturday to catch a few acts thought the set-up was great – well done to all involved. Looking forward to next year’s event. Ed
The British weather didn’t deter the combined crowd of over six hundred people from coming together and listening to some of the best local musical talent at this year’s extended staging of Postfest.
Postfest, a charitable music event which raises money for the Isle of Wight Hospice, was set up by Robert Carr in 2010, and has since then has grown to feature more bands and an extended staging.
Sunny Saturday
Day one saw popular bands such as Dr Jones and Rachel’s Reason performing, as well as various family aimed activities such as face painting and circus skills.
For the adults at the show, refreshing alcoholic drinks including Postfest’s own were on sale.
Sunday rain no problem for music lovers
On the second day the site was hit with heavy rain, but this didn’t stop the strong crowd of over one hundred and fifty people from coming together and enjoying themselves.
By moving the acoustic stage into the main tent out of the wind and the rain, bands such as The Scores, The Ohmz, and Goodbye Stereo were able to perform as planned.
Great plans for next year
It was suggested by the site’s owner Arthur Reeder that next year’s event should on for three days, and considering that Robert Carr was overwhelmed with requests to perform this year, this may have to be considered.
So, will you be attending next year’s Postfest? To keep up to date you can visit the event’s page on Facebook.
