The Solent Seascape Project is inviting local people to find out more about efforts to protect the seagrass meadow in Priory Bay.
The project is holding a community drop-in session at Seaview Yacht Club (Esplanade, Seaview PO34 5HB) on Saturday 23rd May, running from 9.30am to 12pm.
Organisers are welcoming anyone who wants to come along for coffee and a chat about the future of the bay.
Balancing nature and recreation
Priory Bay supports an important seagrass meadow, which provides a home for marine life and helps maintain healthy coastlines.
The bay also holds significant value for boating and recreation, and the project is exploring ways to protect the seagrass while continuing to support those activities.
The team wants to understand local perspectives and identify practical, workable options going forward.
Options under consideration
Several approaches are currently on the table, including encouraging careful anchoring practices and the use of rope in the intertidal area.
The project is also considering the introduction of sensitive habitat markers and visitor moorings in the subtidal area.
Have your say
