Prison Officers Swap Wight Weather For Seychelles Sand

The Daily Echo are reporting that six prison officers from the Isle of Wight have swapped the cold winter weather on the Island for the heat of the Seychelles.

Montagne Posee PrisonLucky them you might think, but their special assignment, being funded by the Foreign Office, sees them guarding a band of Somali pirates.

Captured by Royal Navy
Apparently the pirates were captured by the Royal Navy and handed over to those in charge in the Seychelles.

According to the report, the authorities don’t have the necessary resources to keep an eye on the bandits, so the Isle of Wight officers will be spending two months on the honeymoon island helping out.

Not the first time in Paradise
However, it’s not the first time Isle of Wight officers have worked over in Seychelles.

Last year, three officers from HMP IW took part in an exchange programme with officers from Montagne Posee Prison.

They spent two weeks finding out what it’s like to work there and sharing their knowledge with the Seychelles authorities under a UNODC counter piracy programme.
