This just in from Labour county councillor, Geoff Lumley. Ed
After pushing ahead last December with his one-party representation to the Government for an additional £898,000 of funding for 2011/12 – (rather than setting their sights a little higher to help address the £7m reduction in government funding for next year) – Labour’s Geoff Lumley has tonight learnt how disastrous Cllr Pugh’s pursuit of personal ambition before Island people has proved to be.
Just £4000! Clearly government ministers think as little of him as many Islanders now do.
Pugh only achieves 0.004% 0.4% of request
Geoff said, “Last December I asked Cllr Pugh to organise an all-party representation to government together with the Island’s Conservative MP. The LibDems and Independents were up for it, as well as the MP. The IW Council has a track record of successful all-party delegations. However, Cllr Pugh refused to do this and sneaked off to Westminster just before Christmas, without even including the MP. And this is the outcome. £4000 – just 0.004% 0.4% of what they asked for.
It is pathetic, chickenfeed, and frankly hugely embarrassing for Pugh. I think it is time that the Tory Group at County Hall did the right thing and kicked him out as the Council Leader. Or are they happy with these continuing embarrassments?”
