On 4th March 2015 Isle of Wight NHS Trust Chairman, Danny Fisher, announced that he would be standing down. Danny was originally appointed to the Trust Board when Isle of Wight NHS Trust was established in April 2012. Prior to that he was Chairman of Isle of Wight NHS Primary Care Trust from October 2006. His term of office is due to end on 30th September 2015.
Recruitment of new chairman
Arrangements for the appointment of a new Chairman have been announced by the NHS Trust Development Authority (TDA) on their Website.
Mark Price, Company Secretary at Isle of Wight NHS Trust said:
“The new Chair will provide leadership, support and challenge in the development and progression of strategic direction, delivering a vision that secures affordable, sustainable and clinically sound services for patients into the future. The Chair will be crucial in engaging collaboratively with NHS partners and the Island health economy to develop services, seek and promote best practice improve productivity and efficiency, and in communicating these strategies to patients, the community and other interested parties.
“In October 2006 the Island’s separate NHS provider and commissioning organisations were brought together to create one unique NHS organisation to manage the Islands healthcare. The Primary Care Trust that was created then oversaw the creation of the NHS Trust in April 2012 and the Clinical Commissioning Group (CCG) in April 2013. Danny Fisher has helped the NHS on the Island steer through these significant changes to the structure of the NHS. He has always considered what is best for patients and what is best for the Island. The challenges presented over the last eight years have been significant and he has played a major role in looking after the interests of both patients and the Island over this long period.
“We are now seeking a new Chairman who can support the Trust as it navigates what is undoubtedly a challenging and tough period for the NHS both locally and nationally. There is no doubt however that the Island is at the forefront of developments in integrated health and social care through the Island’s innovative My Life A Full Life programme – a partnership between Isle of Wight NHS Trust, Isle of Wight Clinical Commissioning Group, Isle of Wight Council, the Voluntary Sector Forum and One Wight, the Federation of Island GPs. The new Chairman will have a key role to play in helping to drive forward that programme and the Trust’s part in ensuring that it delivers the significant changes required to ensure that Island health and social care is sustainable for the future.”
