Isle of Wight NHS announce changes to the Board

This in from the IW NHS, in their own words. Ed

It was announced at the Trust Board meeting on Wednesday 4th March 2015 that two long standing members of Isle of Wight NHS Trust Board are to step down this year.

Sue Wadsworth moving to Cornwall
Non-Executive Director, Sue Wadsworth, whose Board appointment comes to an end on 31st Sue WadsworthMarch 2015, is moving to Cornwall and will not be seeking reappointment.

Sue was originally appointed to the Board of the Trust’s predecessor organisation, Isle of Wight NHS Primary Care Trust, in October 2006.

Danny Fisher to stand down
Chairman of the Trust, Danny Fisher, has also announced that he will be standing down as soon as a successor can be recruited. Danny was originally appointed to the Trust Danny FisherBoard when Isle of Wight NHS Trust was established in April 2012. Prior to that he was Chairman of Isle of Wight NHS Primary Care Trust from October 2006.

Speaking at the Trust Board Mr Fisher said:

“The Island’s NHS has many challenges ahead of it and I have decided that after eight years at the helm it is time for someone else to take on this important role. There have been many successes during my time as Chairman including the transition from PCT to NHS Trust, the establishment of many integrated services such as the Integrated Care Hub, some significant building projects such as the Helipad and financial balance reached each year. On my walks around the Trust I have encountered numerous examples of excellent care. The Trust has some brilliant staff who largely do their work as ‘unsung heroes’. I will be sorry to leave the Trust but will continue to maintain a close interest in the Trust.”

Speaking after the Board meeting Sue Wadsworth said:

“My time on the Island has been most enjoyable and I am pleased to have been able to contribute to the development of Island health services. The Island’s health services are some of the best in the country and although we don’t always get it right for everyone I know that the staff and volunteers at the Trust are dedicated to ensuring that every contact with services provided by the Trust provides the best possible experience for patients. It will be interesting to see what health services are like in Cornwall, another rural community where the health and social care services are also dealing with rising demand and limited resources.”

Following the meeting Mark Price, Company Secretary at Isle of Wight NHS Trust said:

“In October 2006 the Island’s separate NHS provider and commissioning organisations were brought together to create one unique NHS organisation to manage the Islands healthcare. The Primary Care Trust that was created then oversaw the creation of the NHS Trust in April 2012 and the Clinical Commissioning Group (CCG) in April 2013. Both Danny and Sue have helped the NHS on the Island steer through these significant changes to the structure of the NHS. They have always considered what is best for patients and what is best for the Island. The challenges presented over the last eight years have been significant and they have played a major role in looking after the interests of both patients and the Island over this long period.”
