Red Funnel outline their annual maintenance programme for vehicle ferries

As part of Red Funnel’s ongoing investment into maintenance and improving the reliability of its services, the cross-Solent ferry operator has announced its regular annual servicing schedule for 2022, to ensure its vessels are fully equipped for the forecasted busy summer months.

Red Osprey
Specifically, Red Osprey started her refit programme in the early stages of January and will be in maintenance through to mid-February.

Red Eagle
Red Eagle is due to start her annual maintenance in mid-February until the end of March. Later in April and May, Red Eagle will be coming out of service to change its Voith unit propeller – which is due to take place in the Southampton.

Red Falcon and Red Kestrel
Red Falcon is due to undergo her annual refit in November until mid-December and Red Kestrel is due to start her refit in December, until the beginning of January 2023.

Throughout all annual refits, Red Funnel will be working hard to maintain its usual services and timetables to ensure customers experience minimal disruption.

Renovating on-board lifts
As part of the annual works, Red Funnel will also be completing renovations of its on-board lifts to enable a more pleasant and accessible journey for customers – replacing all elevator doors on A, B, C and D deck of Red Falcon, Red Osprey and Red Eagle.

Other works will include hull cleaning, tank inspections, chipping, priming and painting the external decks, as well as undertaking hull and machinery surveys.
