Red Funnel Presents Cheque To Ellen MacArthur Cancer Trust

Jonathan Green and Ellen MacArthurOn Monday 12 December, Red Funnel Isle of Wight Ferries, presented a cheque for £6,634 to the Ellen MacArthur Cancer Trust – the Island based charity that aims to help rebuild confidence in young people in recovery from cancer and leukaemia, by taking them on unique sailing trips.

Red Funnel have provided operational and financial support for the Trust since Dame Ellen MacArthur founded the charity in 2003, by providing free travel for the young people who visit the Island to take part in their sailing based activities.

Helping 350 youngsters
This year, the Trust took more young people sailing than ever, and Red Funnel generously provided travel for all 350 of those youngsters, an amount which totalled £6,634.

Jonathan Green, Red Funnel’s Sales & Marketing Director presented the cheque to Dame Ellen MacArthur at the West Cowes Red Jet ticket office.

Ellen, who gratefully received the cheque, expressed her thanks on behalf of the Trust.

“The Ellen MacArthur Cancer Trust is funded entirely by donations so we really do rely on individuals and companies to support us. The support of Red Funnel makes a big difference to us, and this money really does make a significant contribution towards our operating costs. I would like to extend my sincere thanks to the Red Funnel team.”

Jonathan Green from Red Funnel said: “Red Funnel are once again delighted to support the The Ellen MacArthur Trust. Their work provides the inspiration and confidence building that youngsters who have gone through the trauma of cancer or leukaemia treatment so desperately need for recovery. We are looking forward to working with them again in 2012.”
