Suspended Red Funnel vehicle ferry service resumes after incident on Red Eagle (updated)

Red Funnel had to suspended its vehicle ferry service after an incident on board Red Eagle in East Cowes this morning (Thursday 25th Sep 2025).

A spokesperson for the company explained that two vehicles were involved in the incident, which the ferry unable to sail until specialist expertise arrives.

Full suspension of service
The spokesperson said,

“An incident occurred this morning involving two vehicles on board Red Eagle, in East Cowes, which meant that Red Eagle had to remain alongside whilst we awaited specialist expertise.

“As a result, we had had to initiate a full suspension of our vehicle ferry service.”

Service resumed
At 10.47am a Red Funnel spokesperson said,

“Thanks to the swift action of our team, we are pleased to confirm that the two vehicles have been safely removed from Red Eagle and our vehicle ferry service has resumed in full.

“We are communicating directly with customers and would like to thank passengers for their patience while we resolved the incident.”
