Red Tie Theatre presents a double bill this season with classic Harold Pinter and a second play, Five Kind of Silence directed by newcomer, 18 year-old Joseph Plumb.
The Dumb Waiter
Written by Harold Pinter, Directed by Marylyn Ford
Two men on a mission in a room…Waiting. But who else is in the building? Tension and menace are created out of very ordinary language. Laughs too. This is classic Pinter.
Starring Colin Ford (IWCP Best Male Lead 2008) and Steve Reading (The Filibuster)
Five Kinds of Silence
Written by Shelagh Stephenson, Directed by Joseph Plumb
“I love my family. They’re mine. I love them. What’s different about me, see, is that I love them more than what you might call normal”
Billy has controlled his wife and daughters for years, until, one day, they take action. But is Billy still in control?
Five Kinds of Silence written by Shelagh Stephenson deals with the deeply disturbing subject of long-term abuse within the family.
RedTIEtheatre have built a reputation for producing contemporary issue-based plays. Shelagh Stephenson’s “Five Kinds of Silence” examines the roles of victims and perpetrators with a level of understanding that reveals her depth of research. No sentiment, no desperate anguished weeping – this play shows it just how it is”¦
Joseph Plumb made his directorial debut in November last year with the successful ‘Chatroom’ plays.
Directing this piece will prove to be a challenge as he is directing actors with (approx) 20 years more experience of theatre than he has! RedTIEtheatre is supporting Joe’s thirst for experience in his chosen field. He is off to take up a place at university in London to commence a Directing Degree in September this year.
This play contains strong language and deals with adult themes. Suitable for 15+
