Island Line today (11 March 2013) advised passengers that it is currently operating a reduced service as a result of freezing weather conditions.

Services are currently only able to operate between Ryde Pier and Ryde Esplanade. As a result, minibuses and taxi services have been put in place for passengers travelling to other stations on the network.

Check for updates before travelling
This situation is expected to continue for the rest of the day. Passengers are advised to check for updates before they travel and to allow extra time for their journeys.

Andy Naylor, Island Line Area Manager, said: “Our services are currently being disrupted as a result of freezing weather conditions that have also affected other forms of transport today. As a result, we are not currently able to run our full service and we would like to apologise to passengers for the inconvenience this will cause.

“We are working hard in these difficult circumstances to keep our trains moving and our passengers updated. We are also providing minibuses and taxis to serve all stations and we expect this to continue for the rest of the day.

“We would strongly advise customers to allow extra time to get to and from the station and for their journeys and to take care at stations and on platforms. Passengers should also check for the latest updates before they travel.”
