Tonight there will be a meeting of parents of people in registered care on the Isle of Wight at 6pm.
The meeting’s venue has changed to the Newclose Cricket Ground, from South Wight Housing, due to the number of people who want to attend.
Many of those who have relatives in registered care are very concerned about the potential impact of the changes recently announced by the IW council. Included in these are the impact on those in residential care and the homes they live in from the closure of the Medina Centre and excluding from Meadowbrook.
In particular, we’ve been told by parents that they are very concerned that the Council have said that they will no longer pay for one-to-one care, which many of their relatives require.
Concerns have been voiced about the possibilities of residential homes closing due to them becoming uneconomic to run with that they perceive as additional requirements for care from the council.
