The Lords of Thyme made a visit to the Isle of Wight last Friday (28th November) to play a set at Porchfield Village hall.
The Lords of Thyme are a four piece band from the Southern England Midlands. The band comprises Michelle Griffiths (vocals and harmonies), Patrick Kenneally (piano and drums), Tali Trow (bass) and Joe Woolley (vocals and guitar).
Super support
They had amazing solo support from singer-songwriter, RHAIN.
She has a very unique, one of a kind, haunting voice; with an amazing vocal range and incredible control over her voice. The lyrics were a beautiful, twisted fairytale that really made you want to listen to every word she sang.
A charming band with incredible harmonies
The Lords of Thyme put on a lively gig at Porchfield. They were lovely, charming and really engaged on a personal level with the audience. There was also a guest appearance from Becky Haydock (Violinist) who played beautifully and entwined the violin into the music.
The band had incredible harmonies, which made the songs powerful and full of light, that really connected with the lyrics telling a beautiful folk story. The vocalist, Michelle Griffiths, sang some enchanting a capella folk songs halfway through their set.
Eclectic mix of other genres
They also had an eclectic mix of other genres in their music, which you could pick out through each instrument being played. Accomplished in the way they’ve put jazz and blues and other genres into folk, they’ve created something really unusual within it. It all worked very well together.
If you have the chance, do catch them next time they’re touring.
