For those who missed the update on Richard Beardsall’s round-Island solo swim attempt at the weekend, we can confirm that Richard managed to swim a staggering 51 miles around the Island.
19 hours after leaving Ryde Sands on Saturday night, Richard had to make the decision to finish his round-Island attempt at Hope Sands in Shanklin.
Exhaustion and injury forced him to make the decision to retire after 51 miles, which we’re sure you’ll agree is an amazing feat.
The swim was in aid of children at Medina House School – hoping to raise enough for them to take part in sailing activities at the brilliant sailing charity, UKSA.
There is still time to make your donation to the great cause. Just pop over to Richard’s Just Giving page to donate online.
