On Friday, 30th May, Isle of Wight West Labour MP, Richard Quigley, marked six months since the opening of his constituency office by welcoming a wide range of Island stakeholders for a special event.
The gathering provided an opportunity to reflect on progress and share ideas on how to tackle key challenges facing Isle of Wight West, while laying out a vision for growth and collaboration over the coming years.

Among those in attendance were Council Leader Councillor Phil Jordan; Council Chairman Councillor Ian Dore; Jo Dare, CEO of the Isle of Wight Youth Trust; and representatives from education, healthcare, industry, the voluntary sector, and police.
Quigley: A space where connections can be made and collaboration can happen
During the event, Richard outlined his priorities for the remainder of his term as MP for Isle of Wight West: reversing decline, rebalancing demographics, building local wealth in partnership, and addressing the Island’s structural challenges.
He also used the occasion to issue a clear call to action to both employers and educators.
“During the election campaign, I heard from employers struggling to recruit locally, while schools and colleges told me they struggled to find jobs for their students. Both of these things can’t be true at the same time—and it’s a problem we must solve together.
“This office is not just a place for casework—it’s a space where connections can be made and collaboration can happen.”
The event was not only a chance to celebrate the efforts of local stakeholders but also allowed Richard’s team to meet many of the people and organisations they will be working with throughout his term.
Quigley: It was vital to bring key individuals together
Speaking after the event, Richard said,
“It was a joy to welcome so many to my constituency office. While we’ve been here for six months now, it was vital to bring key individuals together—to meet my team and start meaningful conversations about how we move the Island forward.
“I am absolutely committed to the pledges I made during the election—but I can’t do it alone. That’s why it’s so important to me that local stakeholders feel welcome in this space, and confident that they have a real partner in this office as we work toward a better future for the Isle of Wight West.”
Constituency office
Richard’s constituency office is located in Mill Court Business Centre, in Newport. It was chosen for its central location, easy access to public transport and near-by parking. The building is also occupied by local SMEs, NHS, and health care providers. The office is currently open to constituents on Tuesdays 10am to 12pm or by pre-booked appointment.
