Riders take on ninth round of Vectis Isle Pioneers mcc’s Championship

Wayne shares this latest news from the Vectis Isle Pioneers Motorcycle Club. Ed

The ninth round of the Vectis Isle Pioneers mcc’s 2016 trials Championship was held on Sunday 20th November at Knighton Sand Pit.

Thank yous
The Club would like to thank Mr Roger Morgan for welcoming us back to what is an excellent venue. Thanks, also go to Howard Jacobs and Calvin Wright, who were assisted by, Kerry Jacobs and Jos Wright – who all braved the rather wintry weather on Saturday to set the sections and to Christine Jacobs for her organisational skills, hot drinks and some great camera work!

New members
Four new members this month – we would like to welcome James Stay, Harvey Grieve, Darren and Joe Taylor, we hope you all had a good day and we look forward to seeing you at future events.

Father and son duo, Darren and Joe, chose wisely to treat as a practice session – I’m sure it won’t be too long before they start notching up some Championship points.

Adult Beginner’s class
In the wake of the overnight storm Angus, all of the sections were set in the sand pit area, an excellent decision by the course setters!

Phil Silvester rode unopposed in the Adult Beginner’s, but never the less recorded a competitive score to gain himself another ten Championship points.

Youth riders
Harrison Crickmore (Youth under 80cc class) Harvey Grieve (Youth Easy) and Jos Wright (Youth Hard class) all also rode unopposed but all posted excellent scores – very well done lads, keep up the good work.

john-townsend

John Townsend (pictured above), the only British bike competitor, secured his ten points with a determined effort. Meanwhile Nick Symes (who finished with the lowest total of the day) took command of the Twin Shock class dropping a miserly eight marks from Howard Jacobs in second with Calvin Wright in third. Nick lost all his marks on the difficult section three. The Novice class was headed up by Brian Brockwell, Brian only dropped nine marks to take the win.

phil-chase

Wayne Brodie and Phil Chase (pictured above), were tied on eighteen – Wayne was awarded second place by notching up more cleans. Championship leader, Paul Kent was forced to settle in fourth place on this occasion.

Intermediate class
There were no Expert riders which meant that the Intermediate class fought it out for the top honours. Championship leader, Mark Coombes (main photo), did just enough to hold off a determined effort from new member James Stay.

Just three marks separated the two, an unfortunate five on section six made all the difference – great effort never the less. Andy Steele also rode well to finish in third place with Geoff Taylor in fourth.

Next meet
The Club next meet on Sunday 11th of December. The venue is still to be confirmed, please check the Image: © VIP Mcc Website nearer the time for the full details.
