The Prime Minister, Rishi Sunak, has today (Wednesday) called a general election for 4th July 2024. He has asked The King for permission to dissolve Parliament, which has been granted.
For the first time, there will be two constituencies for the Isle of Wight: Isle of Wight West and Isle of Wight East.
Prospective parliamentary candidates have already been announced for each constituency as follows:

Pre election period
The pre-election period (purdah) is the term used to describe the period between the time an election is announced and the date the election is held.
Big decisions cannot be made by the civil service during this period.
