Riverside Centre to screen Gabor Maté in poignant West Bank documentary

Where Olive Trees Weep, is a feature length documentary from Zaya and Maurizio Benazzo, featuring extensive interviews with acclaimed Hungarian Canadian physician and author Dr Gabor Maté among others.

It offers a window into the continuing struggles of the Palestinian people living under Israeli occupation through a series of conversations with residents of the West Bank.

Captured over three weeks
Footage for the film was captured over three weeks, between May and June 2022, long before the events of 7th October in nearby Gaza that may now dominate peoples understanding of the regional struggle.

The film is a powerful experience through the words of people without being graphic in its telling of their plight.

Where and when
The film will be hosted and introduced by Ruba Cockett, mother of two and South Wight resident, who was brought up in the region.

Screening is at the Riverside Centre on Wednesday 26th June starting promptly at 7pm.

Tickets are available from Eventbrite. Or entry at the door by donation.

Any profits from this screening will be given to Hope and Play who help to provide children in the occupied Palestinian territories and refugee camps with a chance to play, live and learn.

Please make sure to arrive at least 15 minutes before the start of the film.
