Riverside IWC comm asset transfer

Riverside Centre transferred to trustees

This in from the council

The Isle of Wight Council has officially handed over the Riverside Centre to its trustees following the completion of a community asset transfer.

The new long-term lease, agreed by the council’s Executive in June, secures the future of the centre which provides vital services for those with disabilities and long-term conditions, along with their carers and the wider community.

Councillor Ian Stephens, leader of the Isle of Wight Council, said:

“The Riverside Centre is a real community hub providing a wide range of support and services for people with disabilities. I am delighted that the community asset transfer has been completed, it provides the charity with the stability in which to grow and develop future services for the benefit of residents across the Island.”

Emma Corina, chair of the Riverside Centre, said:

“The Riverside Centre has a proud history of being a place where everyone is welcome, everyone is supported and I’d like to thank all those people who have helped us get to where we are now. From this solid foundation we will continue to work hard to maintain and hopefully improve upon everything that is good about the centre.”
