Road closures and road works for the next week

Isle of Wight road works for this week. Information supplied by Island Roads.

ASHEY:
Ashey Road will be closed from 6.30pm until 6am on approximately 3 or 4 nights between Tuesday 7 January and Friday 10 January 2014 from Green Lane to Smallbrook Lane. The closure is required for carriageway resurfacing works between Green Lane and the entrance to the Ponda Rosa by Island Roads.

The diversion route for traffic is; Ashey Road, Brading Downs Road, Bullys Hill, The Mall, Hornsey Rise, A3055 New Road, High Street (Brading), Rowborough Lane, Beaper Shute and Brading Road, Great Preston Road and Smallbrook Lane.

BINSTEAD:
A3054 Binstead Road (various locations from Binstead Hill to Queens Road)
Temporary traffic lights will be in operation between 9.30am and 4pm on approx. two days between Tuesday 3 December and Friday 6 December 2013 for the replacement of street lighting columns and lanterns by Island Roads.
Traffic delays will occur.

A3054 Binstead Hill (various locations from Quarr Hill to Binstead Hill)
Temporary traffic lights will be in operation between 9.30am and 4pm on approx. two days between Monday 2 December until Thursday 5 December for the replacement of street lighting columns and lanterns by Island Roads.
Traffic delays will occur.

CARISBROOKE:
B3401 / B3323 High Street (various locations from Alvington Road to Cedar Hill)
Temporary traffic lights will be in operation between 9.30am and 4pm on approx. two days between Monday 25 November until Friday 29 November 2013 for the replacement of street lighting columns and lanterns by Island Roads.
Traffic delays will occur.

CHALE:
B3399 Chale Street will be closed from 6.30am until 6pm on approximately 5 days between Monday 25 November 2013 and Friday 13 December 2013 from a point 310 metres north of its junction with Gotten Lane to a point 325 metres south of its junction with Gotten Lane.
The closure is required for carriageway resurfacing works by Island Roads

The diversion route will be: Chale Street, Appleford Road, Niton Road, Newport Road, High Street (Niton), A3055 New Road, Blackgang Road, Blythe Shute, B3399 Church Place and Chale Street.

COWES:
One way restrictions Medina Road and Bridge Road.
To enable urgent building works to take place adjacent to the junction with Medina Road and Bridge one way restrictions will be required from 8am on Tuesday 5 November 2013 until 6pm on Tuesday 24 December 2013.
In A3020 Medina Road, Cowes: Vehicles will only be permitted to travel in a Southeast bound direction between 20 metres to the northwest of the junction with Bridge Road and the junction with Bridge Road.
In Bridge Road, Cowes: Vehicles will only be permitted to travel in a Southwest bound between the junction with Medina Road and a point 20 metres to the Southwest.
Diversion route: Bridge Road, A3020 Newport Road, Mill Road and Medina Road.

EAST COWES:
Maresfield Road will be closed from 8am on Friday 13 September 2013 until 6pm on Friday 20 December 2013 between Old Road and the entrance to Maresfield Road Car Park (approx. 65 metres from Cambridge Road junction for reconstruction works by Walker Construction for Peter Brett Associates.
Access to Maresfield Road Car Park will be maintained from the Cambridge Road direction.
DIVERSION ROUTE: Old Road and Cambridge Road. The closures are required for reconstruction of Maresfield Road.

Castle Street (from entrance to Waitrose Store toMaresfield Road / Columbine Road Old Road junction).
Temporary traffic lights will be in operation from 7.30am on Wednesday 13 November until 6pm on Friday 13 December 2013 for kerbing and drainage works by Walker Construction for Peter Brett Associates.

FISHBOURNE:
Fishbourne Lane (various locations from near A3054 Elenors Grove / Kite Hill junction).
Temporary traffic lights will be in operation between 9am until 4pm on each day between Monday 2 December until Friday 6 December 2013 for cable works by CCN Utilities.
Traffic delays will occur.

A3054 Quarr Hill ( various locations from Elenors Grove to Binstead Hill).
Temporary traffic lights will be in operation between 9.30am and 4pm on approx. two days (Mondays to Fridays) between Tuesday 26 November until Wednesday 4 December 2013
Traffic delays will occur.

FRESHWATER:
B3399 Newport Road (rear of the garden of 14 Afton Barns), 30 to 50 metres Chessell side of Manor Road.
Temporary traffic lights will be in operation between 7.30am and 6pm on each day between Friday 20 December and Monday 24 December 2013 for tree felling works by Tree Surgery & Garden Services.
Traffic delays will occur.

Cameron Close will be closed to vehicular traffic from 7am on Monday 18 November 2013 until 7am on Monday 18th May 2015 between the northern boundary of number 2 (45 metres north of the junction with Camp Road) and the end of the surfaced highway (110 metres to the northeast of Camp Road). The closure is required for the demolition of existing buildings and construction of a new development by Stoneham Construction Ltd.
There is no alternative route for vehicular traffic.

The public footpath between Cameron Close and Jubilee Close will be also closed to pedestrians from7am on Monday 18th November 2013 until 7am on Sunday 18th May 2014 from the end of the surfaced highway in Cameron Close (105 metres to the north east of Camp Road) to the end of the surfaced highway in Jubilee Close (110 metres to the northwest of Camp Road) for the same reason.
There is no alternative route for pedestrians.

A3055 Military Road (junction with Chine Lane).
Temporary traffic lights will be in operation between 9am and 3.30pm on Wednesday 27 November and Thursday 28 November 2013 for carriageway repair works by Island Roads.
Traffic delays will occur.

GODSHILL:
A3020 High Street (outside Griffin Pub).
Temporary traffic lights will be in operation between 9am and 3.30pm on Thursday 28 November and if necessary on Friday 29 November 2013 for carriageway repair works by Island Roads.
Traffic delays will occur.

A3020 Newport Road (junction with Merstone Lane and Chequers Inn Road).
Temporary traffic lights will be in operation between 9am and 3.30pm on Thursday 28 November and if necessary on Friday 29 November 2013 for carriageway repair works by Island Roads.
Traffic delays will occur.

GURNARD:
Marsh Road (from outside Southern Water Pumping Station to 30 metres away outside a property called Sunset View).
Temporary traffic lights will be in operation from 8.30am on Thursday 28 November until 3.30pm on Wednesday 4 December 2013 for the connection of an existing road gully to another nearby by Island Roads.
Traffic delays will occur.

HAVENSTREET:
Combley Road will be closed from 9.30am until 3.30pm on Thursday 28 November 2013 betweenBriddlesford Road and Gravel Pit Lane. The Closure is required for pole replacement works by A/plant for British Telecom.
The diversion route will be: Briddlesford Road and Gravel Pit Lane.
Temporary traffic lights will be in operation in the interests of road safety at the junction of Briddlesford Road and Gravel Pit Lane during the works.

Church Road will be closed for the North-eastern junction with Main Road to Pondcast Lane between 6.30am and 6pm on 3 to 5 days from Tuesday 3 December until Monday 9 December 2013 for carriageway resurfacing works by Island Roads.
Diversion route: Main Road and Church Road.

LAKE:
A3055 Lake Hill junction with The Fairway and Denness Road)
Temporary traffic lights will be in operation between 9am until 3pm on each day between Monday 2 December until Friday 6 December 2013 for cable works in connection with the construction a new broadband cabinet by Morrison’s Utilities for British Telecom.
Traffic delays will occur.

NEWPORT:
Stag Lane (approx 100 metres from A3020 Horsebridge Hill / Cowes Road junction).
Temporary traffic lights will be in operation from 7.30am on Monday 2 December until approx. 7.30am on Friday 13 December 2013 for carriageway repair works by Dyer & Butler
Some traffic delays are likely.

St James Street (also called St James Square) will be closed from Pyle Street to High Street between 4.30pm and approx. 6pm on Saturday 30 November 2013 in connection with the switching on of the Christmas lights.
The event is being organised by Newport Parish Council.

DIVERSION ROUTE: NORTHBOUND:
LOCAL TRAFFIC: Pyle Street and High Street.
THROUGH TRAFFIC: Upper St James Street, St Johns Place, Medina Avenue, St Georges Approach and A3020 St Geoges Way.
SOUTHBOUND: Buses, taxis and cylists using the contraflow bus lane: High Street, Coppins Bridge Roundabout, East Street, South Street and St James Street.

Newport Christmas Carnival 2013
Furrlongs, South Street, St James Street, Pyle Street, Carisbrooke Road, High Street, Quay Street and the Quay will each be closed for a short period on Saturday 30 November 2013 to enable Newport Christmas Carnival procession to pass through.

The procession is due to form up in Matalan Car Park (situated off Furrlongs) at 5pm and leave at 5.45pm. The procession should arrive on The Quay by approx. 7.15pm on Saturday 30 November 2013.

DIVERSION ROUTE: THROUGH TRAFFIC: B3323 Carisbrooke Road, High Street (Carisbrooke), Priory Road, Gunville Road, A3054 Forest Road and A3020 Medina Way.
LOCAL TRAFFIC: Traffic diversions will be signposted as the procession proceeds

Whitcombe Road was closed from 6.30am until 6pm on between Wednesday 13 November and Friday 15 November, from Monday 18 November until Friday 22 November 2013 and on Monday 25 November 2013. Between Whitepit Lane and Froglands Lane.
All resurfacing works by Island Roads has been completed.

B3323 Carisbrooke Road (junction with Cedar Hill)
Temporary traffic lights will be in operation from 9am on Tuesday 26 November until 4.30pm on Friday 29 November 2013 for the installation of a new gas service connection by Southern Gas Networks at 196 Carisbrooke Road.
Traffic delays will occur.

Clarence Road will be closedfrom 6.30am until 6pm on 3 to 5 days between Monday 11 November 2013 and Friday 6 December 2013 between Mount Pleasant Road and Medina Avenue. The closure is required for carriageway resurfacing works by Island Roads.
The diversion route is; Mount Pleasant Road, Cypress Road and Medina Avenue.

A3054 Fairlee Road (various locations from Mill Lane, near Binfield Corner to North Fairlee Farm entrance.
Temporary traffic lights will be in operation between 9.30am and 3.30pm on each day Mondays to Fridays from Monday 2 December until Friday 13 December 2013 for gully cleaning and survey works by Island Roads.
Traffic delays will occur.

ROOKLEY:
A3020 Main Road (from Merstone Lane to Rookley outside Spar shop, various locations)
Temporary traffic lights will be in operation between 9.30am and 4pm on Wednesday 11 December, Thursday 12 December and Friday 13 December 2013 for carriageway repair works by Island Roads.
Traffic delays will occur.

RYDE:
Monkton Street will be closed from 9am until 3.30pmon Tuesday 4 December 2013 between B3330 St Johns Road and Park Road for carriageway repair works by Island Roads.
DIVERSION ROUTE: B3330 St Johns Road, Bennet Street, Park Road, Dover Street, Melville Street and Monkton Street.
LIGHT TRAFFIC:
NORTHBOUND: Bennet Street and Park Road.

Hill Street will be closed from 6.30am until 6pm on approximately 3 to 5 days between Monday 11 November 2013 and Friday 6 December 2013 from High Street to West Street. The closure required for carriageway resurfacing works by Island Roads.
The diversion route will be: Westbound; High Street, Milligan Road and West Street Eastbound; West Street, Green Street and High Street.

Esplanade will be closed from 6.30pm until 6am on the nights of Tuesday 19 November and on one night between Wednesday 27 November and Tuesday 3 December 2013(weather and other circumstances permitting) from Dover Street to Cornwall Street. The closure is required for carriageway resurfacing by Island Roads
The diversion route is; Dover Street, East Street, The Strand and Esplanade.

Monkton Street will be closed from 9am until 3.30pm Wednesday 4th December 2013 between B3330 St Johns Road and Park Road. The closure is required for carriageway repair works by Island Roads.
The diversion route for through traffic is B3330 St Johns Road, Bennett Street, Park Road, Dover Street, Melville Street and Monkton Street. Light traffic – Northbound: B3330 St Johns Road, Bennett Street and Park Road Southbound: Park Road, St Johns Wood Road and B3330 St Johns Hill.

B3330 St Johns Hill (from St Johns Road Railway Bridge, Moreys Timber Store to School Street).
Temporary traffic lights will be in operation from 9am on Monday 16 September until approx. 4pm on Friday 6 December 2013 for the renewal of the water main & services by Clancy Docwra for Southern Water.
Traffic delays will occur.

Upton Road will be closed from 6pm until 6.30am on approximately 3 to 5 nights between Monday 25 November 2013 and Friday 13 December 2013 between Ashey Road and Pound Mead. The closure is required for carriageway resurfacing works by Island Roads.
The diversion route will be: Ashey Road, Bettesworth Road and Upton Road.

Upton Road (junction with Michaels Avenue)
Temporary traffic lights will be in operation from 9am until 3.30pm on Tuesday 3 December, Wednesday 4 December and Thursday 5 December 2013 for carriageway repairs by Island Roads.
Traffic delays will occur.

SANDOWN:
A3055 Broadway (Junction with Station Avenue)
Temporary traffic lights will be in operation from 9.30am until 4pm on Tuesday 26 November, and if necessary on Wednesday 28 November and Thursday 28 November 2013 for the re-bedding of a highway cover by Island Roads.
Traffic delays will occur.

A3055 Avenue Road/ Morton Common will be closed from 6.30pm until 6am on approximately 5 nights from Monday 11 November 2013 until Friday 13December 2013 between Broadway and Morton Old Road. The closure is required for carriageway resurfacing works between Broadway and a point 100 metres northeast of Perowne Way by Island Roads.
The diversion route will be: A3055 Broadway, Lake Hill and Sandown Road, A3056 Newport Road, Hale Common and Arreton Street, Downend Road, Mersley Down Road, Brading Down Road, Bullys Hill, The Mall and Hornsey Rise and Morton Road.

Avenue Road will be closed from 6.30pm until 6pm on the nights of Friday 29 November, Monday 2 December and Tuesday 3 December 2013(weather permitting) between Broadway and St Johns Crescent, Sandown. The closure is required for carriageway resurfacing works by Island Roads.
The diversion route will be: Southeast bound; Broadway, Station Avenue, Albert Road, Victoria and Avenue Road. Northwest bound; Avenue Road, Carter Street and Broadway.

Avenue Road (outside Chatsworth Laundry substation)
Temporary traffic lights may be in operation between 9am on Monday 25 November until 5pm on Friday 29 November 2013 for electric cable repair works by Scottish & Southern Energy.
Some traffic delays will occur.

SEAVIEW:
Seafield Road will be closed from 6.30am until 6pm on approximately 3 to 5 days between Monday 4 November 2013 and Friday 29 November 2013 betweenBluett Avenue and Fairy Road.
The diversion route will be; Fairy Road, Church Street, Ryde Road, Steyne Road, Seaview Lane, Nettlestone Green, Nettlestone Hill, Pondwell Hill, Calthorpes Road, Puckpool Hill, Springvale Road and Duver Road.
The closure is required for carriageway repair works and temporary traffic signals will be used to control traffic flow in Salterns Road during the closure.

ST LAWRENCE:
A3055 Undercliff Drive will be closed from St Catherine’s Road to Seven Sisters Road (Western Junction), between 9am on Monday 4 November until Wednesday 30 April 2014 for carriageway stabilisation and repair works between Barrington Lodge, near to the western junction with Seven Sisters Road andMirableswhich is located about a mile towards Niton, by Island Roads.
Geotechnical works to strengthen the road at theUndercliff, in the Niton / St Lawrence area is one of the first of 18 geotechnical schemes to maintain the road network being undertaken by Island Roads as part of the Highways PFI.
In this area underlying clay foundations have caused frequent ground movement. Geotechnical work will be undertaken in three areas; In the vicinity of Undercliff Caravan Park and a property called Woodlands, the highway will be anchored by 25-metre steel cables driven through the clay strata into a more substantial layer of rock.

At a location above Hunts Road, more than 100 ten-metre concrete piles will be drilled into the rock to strengthen the highway
DIVERSION ROUTE: A3055 Undercliff Drive, Barrack Shute, Institute Hill, New Road, Starr Inn Road and Church Street, Rectory Road, Chatfield Road, Kemming Road, High Street (Whitwell), Ventnor RD, Whitwell Road, Gills Cliff Road, Castle Road, A3055 Steephill Road and Undercliff Drive.

SHALFLEET:
A3054 Main Road (Between Elm Lane and Corf Road).
Temporary traffic lights will be in operation from 9am on Wednesday 27 November until approx. 5pm on Wednesday 4 December 2013 for the installation of a new electric service by Scottish & Southern Energy.
Traffic delays will occur.

SHANKLIN:
A3055 Sandown Road (outside 118)
Temporary traffic lights will be in operation from 9am until 3.30pm on Wednesday 4 December, and Thursday 5 December 2013 for carriageway repairs by Island Roads.
Traffic delays will occur.

Landguard Road junction with Collingwood Road)
Temporary traffic lights will be in operation between 9am until 3pm on each day between Monday 2 December until Friday 6 December 2013 for cable works in connection with the construction a new broadband cabinet by Morrison’s Utilities for British Telecom.
Traffic delays will occur.

A3055 North Road (outside number, near to the junction with Cross Street).
Temporary traffic lights will be in operation from 9am on Monday 7 October until approx. 4pm on Friday 20 December 2013 for the reconstruction of a sewer manhole chamber, connection of sewer pipework and install a newmonitoring kiosk by Clancy Docwra for Southern Water.
Traffic delays will occur.
Manual control of the temporary traffic lights will be undertaken at times as necessary.

The Shanklin to Wroxall Cycle Track
From 9am on Monday 18 November until approx.5pm on Friday 20 December 2013 no pedestrians, cyclists or horses shall use the Shanklin to Wroxall Cycle Track from its junction with Hyde Road (Shanklin) to its junction with Yarborough Close (Wroxall). The diversion route will be; Hyde Road, Footpath SS92, Byway SS87, A3020 Godshill Road, B3327 St Johns Road, Castle Road and Yarborough Road (Wroxall). The closure is necessary for cycle track widening and resurfacing works.
Note: It is proposed to undertake the works in short sections, therefore only part of the Cycle track will be closed at a time. Details will be advertised in advanced and as works proceed.

VENTNOR:
Market Street will be closed from 6.30am until 6pm on approximately 3 to 5 days between Monday 4 November 2013 and Tuesday 3 December 2013 between High Street and Albert Street. The closure is required for carriageway resurfacing works by Island Roads.
The one way restriction in Market Street will be temporarily suspended during the closure to allow access to businesses and premises.
The diversion route will be: Albert Street, Pier Street and High Street.

Bath Road. A one way restriction will be in operation from La Falaise car Park to Belgrave Road between 9am on Tuesday 29 October until approx. 9am on Monday 19 May 2014 due to the reduction in road for the protection to masonry at retaining wall R1074 above a property called Seacourt.
DIVERSION ROUTE: Belgrave Road, ZigZag Road, Alpine Road, Church Street, Hambrough Road, Shore Hill, Esplanade and Bath Road.

Castle Road will be closed between Park Avenue and ZigZag Road from 6.30am on Wednesday 20 November until 6pm on Friday 22 November 2013 and from 6.30am until 6pm on Thursday 28 November 2013 .The closure is required for carriageway resurfacing works by Island Roads.
The diversion route will be: Park Avenue and ZigZag Road.

B3327 Ocean View Road (Outside 68, opposite junction with ZigZag Road).
Temporary traffic lights will be in operation at times between 9am on Monday 11 November 5pm on Friday 6 December 2013 for the renewal of a retaining wall by MCM Construction.
Traffic delays will occur.

Tulse Hill will be closed from 6.30am until 6pm on approximately 3 to 5 days between Monday 25 November 2013 and Friday 13 December 2013 between Grove Road and Marlborough Road. The closure is required for carriageway resurfacing works.
The Diversion route will be: Grove Road, Spring Hill, High Street, Victoria Street, Albert Street, Pier Street, High Street and Marlborough Road. The closure is required for carriageway resurfacing works.

WHITWELL:
High Street (opp Tor Bank) Temporary traffic lights will be in operation from Thursday 5 December until Thursday 12 December 2013 for the installation of a new electric service by Scottish & Southern Energy.
Traffic delays will occur.

WOOTTON:
A3054 Kite Hill (at Wootton Bridge)
Temporary traffic lights will be in operation between 9am and 3.30pm on Monday 16 December, Tuesday 17 December and Wednesday 18 December 2013 for the repair of safety barriers by Island Roads.
Traffic delays will occur.

Station Road is now open to traffic between Park View and Glendale Close.
The closure was required for the alteration of a British Telecom manhole chamber by CCN Communications for British Telecom.
The road was closed from 9.30am on Monday 25 November until 3.45pm on Tuesday 26 November 2013.

YARMOUTH:
A3054 Tennyson Road /Bouldnor Road (from Victoria Road to B3401 Thorley Street)
Temporary traffic lights were in operation between 9am on Tuesday 10 September and approx. 6pm on Tuesday 26 November2013 for High and Low Voltage electric cable laying works by HMC Plant Services Ltd for Southern Electric.
Further works will be required at this location in the next few weeks.

A3054 Tennyson Road / Bouldnor Road between The Common and The Viewpoint Car Park.
A scheme to strengthen an unstable stretches of the A3054 highway startedin November 2013 and should be completed by the end of April 2014.
The project at Bouldnor Road is one of 18 geotechnical schemes to maintain the road network being undertaken by Island Roads as part of the Highways PFI.
The work will involve strengthening a 700-metre stretch of the highway between the Viewpoint Car Park and Yarmouth Green. 650 steel sheet piles will be driven up to 16 metres into the ground, a process called ‘soil nailing’ will also be used to stabilise the highway at the Yarmouth end of the scheme.
Temporary traffic lights will be in operation from 8am on Monday 4 November 2013 until 5pm on Monday 31 March 2014 at various locations between The Common and The Viewpoint Car Park.
Traffic delays will occur.
It will be necessary to close A3054 Bouldnor Road at times during part of March and April 2014 to enable the works to be completed. Further details will be given / advertised nearer the time.
Vehicles over 6ft 6in in width are advised to use an alternative route during the next few weeks due to the narrow road width.
A temporary clearway order to prevent vehicles from stopping on the carriageway, footway , verges and any lay-bys will be in operation in A3054 Bouldnor Road from a point 460 metres to the North East of Thorley Road junction to a point 160 metres to the West of Thorley Road junction and in B3401 Thorley Road from the junction with A3054 Bouldnor Road to a point 120 metres to the South East. This Order is required in the interests of road safety whilst carriageway stabilisation and repair works are undertaken.
The order will be operation from 8am on Monday 4 November 2013 until 6pm on Wednesday 30 April 2014.

YAVERLAND:
B3327 Yaverland Road (outside LilttleYaverland House).
Temporary traffic lights will be in operation from 9am on Tuesday 19 November until 5pm on Friday 20December2013 for the rebuilding of a boundary wall by Henry Ingram and Sons.
Traffic delays will occur.
