Road Temps On Wight May Drop To -8°C TonightThe Isle of Wight Council are urging drivers and cyclists on the Island to take extra care on the roads this week.

Overnight temperatures are tipped to drop below freezing tonight which means that the Island’s roads will also suffer.

The Met Office have advised the Council, along with other authorities along the South coast that air temperature is predicted to be -3°C tonight with road temperature at possibly -8°C.

The Council advise that they will be pre-salting all major roads and minor roads between towns and villages, but drivers are urged to take extra care.

Stuart Love, Isle of Wight Council Director of Environment and Neighbourhoods, said

“Though salting offers motorists some protection, we would ask them to take extra care in what are forecast to be particularly treacherous conditions”
