I would like to know how I can get Direct contact with Island Roads as to when they plan of sorting out all the Access as in the Level Kerbs as there is nowhere I know of on the Island that has properly created Level access to get from a to b all Dropped Kerbs have been done totally wrong be previous Highways Maintenance Workers. From experience there should be a inch to inch and a half difference from road level to top of kerb.There is a mould line on the front top of the kerb followed by a radius to the flat top.

That changed a long time ago as all should be Level now rather than leave room for “Top Up” taring… Also the way they are done on the Island means there is a slope/tilt on the paths which are a hazard to everyone. Now i thought the 30mm upstand was to stop rain water running over in the private drive way garage and even house as was reported a week ago in Shanklin when the curb finished level with the road following the resurfacing works, some of the people some of the time

I remember reading that and wondering why it was considered wrong, lots of places have no kerbs at all just a different colour to show where they are and its up to owners to make sure their driveway is protected as Level access means just that especially in and around towns & villages and I find that at traffic lights in town ( I find Ryde very… Read more »
