Quay Lane will be closed from approx. 9am on Monday 1 December 2014 until approx. 4pm on Friday December 2014 between High Street and a point 735 metres to the East of the junction with High Street. The closure is necessary for the construction of a new water main across Quay Lane railway bridge for the connection into the existing water main by Clancy Docwra for Southern Water. Marshcombe Shute. One way restriction. A one way restriction is in operation in Marshcombe Shute in an Eastbound direction (towards Bembridge) from a point 45 metres to the East of Yarbridge Crossroads to Yaverland Road junction from 3.30pm on Tuesday 16 September until approx. December 2014 or January 2015. The one way restriction is necessary due to the installation of larger temporary safety barriers which have been erected in the interests of road safety by Island Roads adjacent to the railway and River Yar bridges. Permanent safety barriers will be installed in the near future which will enable the road to be re-opened to two way traffic. A full road closure of a few days will be required.
The alternative route for all traffic travelling in a Westbound towards Yarbridge Crossroads Brading direction will be; B3395 Yaverland Road and Culver Parade, Fort Street, Avenue Road A3055 Morton Road and Morton Common. ST LAWRENCE:
A3055 Undercliff Drive will remain closed from St Catherine’s Road to Seven Sisters Road (Western Junction), between Barrington Lodge, near to the western junction with Seven Sisters Road and Mirables which is located about a mile towards Niton. Following significant ground movement in the area in early February 2014, Undercliff Drive has been physically closed between Mirables (in the west) and a point 560 metres to the West of Seven Sisters Road (in the east) for safety reasons. There is now no access for vehicles or pedestrians. The Isle of Wight Council, working with partner agencies including Island Roads and with support from the army, led an operation in February to help residents of nine properties in Undercliff Drive (in an area known as ‘Woodlands’) remove possessions from their homes after they were advised to leave for safety reasons. A formal road and footpath closure will be in operation from Saturday 15 February for the foreseeable future. Island Roads’ work in the road has been suspended and the road will remain closed until the ground has stabilised and further monitoring can be carried out to determine its future.
