World renowned sailors Dee Caffari and Samantha Davies will be setting off for their latest challenge – a Round Britain record attempt – from Ventnor, Isle of Wight next month.
You may remember back in February we covered news that Dee Caffari became the first woman to sail solo non-stop around the world both ways when she crossed the finish line of the Vendee Globe race.
In that race she was competing against Samantha Davies, but now they’ve joined forces aboard Aviva for a Round Britain record attempt.
Once they leave Ventnor, they plan to head out in a clockwise direction, around Ireland and the outer-lying Scottish Islands.
“Then it’ll be a hand brake turn at Muckle Flugga at the top of the Shetland Islands and then dodge the oil rigs back down the North Sea,” Caffari told the Telegraph.
Other member of the all-female crew on board will including navigator Miranda Merron; Isabelle Joschke; and Alex Sizer.
