Tracy from the Royal shares what they have in store for anyone planning to go along to the Royal Revival this October. Ed
180 years young! Who would have thought it and during that time we have witnessed a myriad of spectacles from Queen Victoria taking afternoon tea, to the Earl of Grantham tweeting about our ‘terrific food!’ But what would it be like to really turn back the clock?
Well it’s rather a jolly jape as we found out last year.
So, if you are in the mood to join us as we celebrate all things vintage, then pack up your kitten heels and cruise over – your cocktail is waiting.
Friday 5th October
Join us in the Conservatory at 6pm for Bellini cocktails whilst our resident pianist, tinkles away on the ivories. A three course dinner will be served in our award-winning restaurant followed by an ‘Evening with Lili la Scala’.
If you were lucky enough to catch Lili at the Isle of Arts Festival, you’ll know that she performs ‘Songs to make you smile’.
With her vintage pin-up looks and the voice of a nightingale, this little Diva with the big voice will certainly give you something to smile about.
Saturday 6th October
Head to the Conservatory at 6.30pm for Kir Royales and a bit of early evening sparkle!
This will be followed by a sumptuous five-course gala dinner created by Alan Staley and Emily Harris.
Evening entertainment
Once your taste-buds have been tantalised get set to relive the golden age of radio with Radio Soop!
Finding themselves plunged into a live radio broadcast with acute staff shortages, a radio repertory company are forced to come up with the sound effects for three one-act plays.
Can they vocalise a death-defying car chase round the coastal paths of Cornwall? Will they pull off an alien invasion using just the contents of a handbag? As off-air mishaps collide with on-air drama, you can be sure of only one thing: the Fifties will never sound the same again!
Make your reservation

A note on fashion
Vintage fashion for the evening programme is de rigueur. The timeline is 1920’s -1950’s. It’s all about having a bit of nostalgic fun.
