Rugby: Ventnor XV thrash Stoneham RFC

Thanks to Nolan for this week’s report from Ventnor Rugby Club. Ed

Stonehame RFC 0-78 Ventnor 1st XV
Ventnor, having been forced to travel with a make-shift squad, were still able to run out convincing winners against bottom of the table Stoneham.

With 12 players missing due to personal commitments on what was supposed to be a spare weekend and only having played one game since the beginning of December, Ventnor where forced to promote players from the second XV squad with many playing out of position.

Ryde game postponed
Sadly a victim of this was the second XV game against Ryde which was unfortunately postponed for a third time. Ventnor would like to thank Ryde for their understanding on this matter, as we are aware how few games have been played this year.

However, these mass changes had little effect on the Ventnor team which is a credit to the attitude, commitment and time spent training over the winter months.

Twelve tries
In total Ventnor ran in 12 tries with Captain Danny Newbury top scoring with three.

This was supported with a brace for Ross Harris and single tries for Gavin Davis, Ed Blake, Harrison Marsh, Ben Lush, Todd Riches, Dean Magnursson and George Poulet. Nine of the twelve tries were converted which were shared between Todd and Warren Riches.
