Supported by other members of council staff, the team will be wearing eye-catching pink and orange running vests which promote the fostering service and how people can find out more.
The team has already started training, and took part in a recent training run in Newport as part of their build up to the event.
The council estimates around 20 foster carers will be needed over the six months to provide a home for vulnerable children.
Councillor Jonathan Bacon, Executive member for children’s services, said:
“Foster carers do an incredible job and provide stability and care to the children who need it most.
“They can help children recover from the experiences which have brought them into care, and give them an opportunity to make a fresh start.
“Raising awareness of becoming a foster carer by taking part in major events such as the Great South Run is a great way of getting the message out there. I wish the team the best of luck with their training and at the event and hope we get lots of interest from people looking to get involved in fostering.”
