A lovely new art gallery and shop has just opened in Ryde on the Isle of Wight with a fresh and contemporary feel. It stocks a range of Island and mainland artists plus a great selection of gifts and homeware.
Vanessa Langley is the driving force behind The Blue Fox Gallery, which is located on Cross Street, just off the main Union Street thoroughfare. Since opening, the gallery has generated lots of interest and support from local artists and having visited the gallery this month, we can certainly see why.
Contemporary, accessible art
There are prints; pottery pieces; paintings; sculpture and jewellery – all individually selected. If you’re looking for a card that you’re not going to find elsewhere, there’s a wide range, including the quirky and interesting.
If you’re looking for a gift for a friend or perhaps something for your own home, you won’t be disappointed with the variety of what’s on offer.
Calling Isle of Wight artists
Prior to opening the doors to The Blue Fox, Vanessa owned a gallery in Sussex, and also ran the Lewes Farmers Market.
A lot of her artists hail from that part of the world but she is keen to forge relationships with more local artists and makers, so if you’re an artist and you think your work would fit the gallery feel, pop in to say hello and show Vanessa your work. She hopes to operate a continually changing gallery space to keep it vibrant and interesting.
Later in the year, Vanessa is planning to hold print making workshops at the gallery, complete with open access to the printing press she will have in the basement of the gallery.
