Ryde Arts Festival Parade

Late news, but hopefully you haven’t made plans for tomorrow yet, as the first costumed parade of the summer season sets off in Ryde (from Upper Dover Street) at 1pm.

Ryde Arts Festival

The theme this year is “Let’s Celebrate” and it’s not to be missed as it’s 50 per cent bigger than last year.

Every school in Ryde is taking part, plus the IW College, some Newport schools and many others including Ventnor Middle.

There will be hundreds of performers, and plenty of surprises. Not least the Paint the World animated float, created by visiting Italian artist Umberto Cinquini. On the Island this summer under the Arts Council International Fellowship scheme, Umberto, who comes from Viareggio in Italy – home of the world’s largest carnival floats – is developing and sharing his skills.
