Ryde Beach Lifeguards receiving the Ambulance Award

Ryde beach lifeguards recognised with an Ambulance Service Commendation Award

The Isle of Wight Ambulance Service has awarded the Ryde Beach Lifeguard team with an Ambulance Service Commendation Award for their outstanding contribution and support.

The Ryde Beach Lifeguards are a team of 12 lifeguards and two beach safety volunteers who were presented with the award for their recent outstanding actions that have helped to keep the public safe throughout the busy summer months.

Grown over the years
Ryde Beach Lifeguarding was initially set up 2011, funded by Ryde Town Council. The service started with a basic provision, but over the years this has grown. It now includes a centre of excellence for lifeguard training, drowning prevention talks, sea safe programme, beach rookies and more.

Ryde Beach Lifeguards provide beach safety for both Ryde and Sandown beaches, operating from 11am to 6pm, everyday, throughout out July and August.
