Ryde Groups Tidy Empty Shop Eyesore

Thanks to Heidi for this positive story about a couple of local groups, who wished to get rid of the eyesore, which it had been for weeks, prior to the Bank Holiday weekend. Well done to all concerned Ed

Ryde Business Association has worked with the Historic Ryde Society and the Ryde Old Town Association to bring life to the closed Eyeland Optical shop at the top of Union Street in Ryde.

It had been commented that the shop was an eyesore, so on Thursday 5th April, newly appointed Ryde Town Council Representative on Ryde Business Association Committee, Cllr Ian Stephens contacted the Estate Agent acting for Eyeland Optical.

Cleaned up shop front
He borrowed the shop key and cleaned up the shop front and passage way together with other Ryde Business Association members and some from Ryde Old Town Association and the Historic Ryde Society.

This has made it more attractive for shoppers coming to Ryde and has been a great demonstration of three organisations in the town working together for the benefit of residents, shoppers and visitors alike.
