Party on the Green in Ryde returns for a third year

Mike Jukes shares details below of this upcoming fundraising event. Ed

The Rotary Club of Ryde is holding its third annual Party on the Green fundraising weekend supported by Ryde Town Council at Eastern Gardens Ryde on 5, 6 and 7 August starting each day at 12pm.

The event has developed out of the old Ryde Regatta that Ryde Rotary Club ran on behalf of the Council for several years, before budget-cuts reduced the funding support.

100% of proceeds to charity
Entrance is free and the event is run by Ryde Rotarians, partners and friends, who are all unpaid volunteers, ensuring that 100% of the net proceeds can be donated to local charities and good causes.

Great entertainment
This year’s event is bigger than ever with more arena acts including Stevo the Magician, Haven Falconry, Guith Morris Dancers, Tacktisle Segways Demonstration, Donkey Sanctuary, Ukulele Band, Sandra’s Dog Show, Classis Cars, Oyster Girls Folk Dance, Vox Pop Choir, Zumba Dance Demonstration and Cornwall Champagne Ladies Singers. Evening entertainment will feature Graham McCullough Duo and DJ Mick Weston.

Plenty of refreshments
There’ll be the ever popular tea tent, selling delicious homemade cakes each afternoon

The real ale tent will be open until 9pm on Friday and Saturday and 6pm on Sunday, plus there’s a Barbeque planned too.

And lots more
Over the weekend will be craft stalls, children’s face painting, tombola and a dice game to win a new Vauxhall car supplied by Harwoods Garage.

Cream teas!

Our vital emergency services
Community Police Officer, Steve Hull, will be in attendance on Sunday with his police car.

Throughout the weekend we are also hoping that Ryde Fire Brigade will be able to attend.
