Sandbags available for properties prone to flooding

If your property is prone to flooding make sure you get some sandbags from the various collection points mid-morning tomorrow

As we reported earlier in the week the Met Office have issued a weather warning of heavy rain for tomorrow (Friday).

Residents in those areas prone to flooding are being advised by the Isle of Wight council “to take appropriate precautions to protect their properties”.

As well as the heavy rain and high winds, there will also be high tides over the next few days.

Collection points
If you’re property is prone to flooding it might be worth collecting sandbags from the following locations. They will be available from mid-morning tomorrow (Friday 14 December).

*Cowes: St Mary’s car park
*East Cowes: Well Road roundabout/junction with Castle Road
*Ryde: Westhill Road/junction with The Strand
*Yarmouth: Long stay car park
*Newport: The junction of Quay Street/Sea Street

The Met Office warning for tomorrow is a yellow warning (“be aware”). This is two stages short of the highest, red (“take action”) warning, which implies a threat to life.
